A Wartime U.S. Tungsten Project Is Back in Focus as Western Star Moves Toward Drilling
New fieldwork at Eagle Point will test historical records, collect fresh samples and help refine proposed drill locations in New Mexico.

Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR; OTCQB: WSRIF; FRA: 4K2) has started its first field exploration and drill-planning program at the Eagle Point tungsten project in Hidalgo County, New Mexico.
Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd. is doing the work. Its team is mapping geology and structures, collecting channel and grab samples, checking existing project data and visiting proposed drill-hole collar locations. It will also look beyond the current targets for signs that the system may extend farther.
The immediate job is to see how well the old records hold up on the ground and where drilling could answer the biggest questions. The program is targeted for completion in September 2026. Dahrouge is then expected to deliver a field summary and assessment that can help rank and refine potential drill targets. Any drilling would still depend on permitting, technical review, financing and other customary considerations.
WHAT THE OLD RECORDS SHOW
Eagle Point covers 24 lode claims in a past-producing tungsten skarn system. Records from 1943 and 1944 indicate that roughly 1,800 tons of scheelite-bearing material were mined and shipped to the U.S. Government stockpile, with settlement based on 0.48% WO₃.
Older government and consulting work described an estimated mineralized system of about 170,000 tons. That figure included roughly 70,000 tons grading 0.40% WO₃ and 100,000 tons grading 0.25% WO₃. These estimates predate NI 43-101, are considered low reliability and are not current mineral resources or reserves.
One later assay stands out: 27.6% WO₃ and 0.98% molybdenum from a selective, scheelite-rich composite. Two other composites returned 0.35% and 0.40% WO₃. The 27.6% result warrants caution: because the sample was selective, it should not be read as an average grade.
Records also describe eight skarn bodies at surface. Earlier drilling, however, was limited mainly to a few shallow holes near the principal open cut. The prospective mineralized contact extends about 1,500 to 2,000 feet, leaving much of it untested at depth and along strike with modern methods.
WHAT THE FIELD CREW NEEDS TO ANSWER
This is the unglamorous work that has to happen before a credible drill test. Mapping may clarify the geological controls. Sampling may strengthen a target or force the team to rethink it. And a promising spot on an old map still has to make sense when a geologist is standing there.
Eagle Point is one piece of Western Star's U.S. tungsten portfolio, which also includes the past-producing Rowland and White Star projects in Nevada. The company recently completed an oversubscribed C$3.69 million financing, adding capital for fieldwork, permitting and exploration.
The timing matters. Tungsten is used in defense, aerospace, hard metals, tooling and high-temperature applications, while China remains dominant in global production and processing. That concentration has made potential U.S. sources more strategically relevant.
Western Star is still an early-stage explorer and has not established a current mineral resource at these projects. But its story has moved forward: three past-producing U.S. tungsten assets, Rowland permitting underway and a field crew now active at Eagle Point. The next meaningful test is whether this work produces drill targets worth pursuing.
